Psödoefedrin nedir?

Psödoefedrin (Pseudoephedrine) alfa adrenerjik agonist ilaç olup sistemik vazokonstriksiyon (damarlarda daralma) yapar. 

Psödoefedrin burundaki damarları daraltarak burun mukozasındaki konjesyonu (burun iç yüzeyinin şişmesi, havayolunu daraltarak nefes almayı zorlaştırması ve burun akıntısını artırmasını) azaltır.

Psödoefedrin’in kalp ve damar üzerindeki etkileri, Efedrin‘e göre daha azdır.

Atletik performansı artıran Psödoefedrin doping olarak kabul edilir ve spor yarışmalarından önce alınmaması önerilir.

Psödoefedrin ve yüksek tansiyon

Önceden yüksek tansiyonu olmayan kişilerde, ya da yüksek tansiyonu ilaçlarla kontrol altında olan hastalarda standart dozlarda (günde 60 mg‘dan daha az) kullanılan Psödoefedrin tansiyonu (kan basıncını) etkilemez. Psödoefedrin 120 mg ve üzerindeki dozlarda kullanılırsa tansiyonu yükseltebilir.

Öte yandan, önceden yüksek tansiyonu olan kişilerde Psödoefedrine bağlı tansiyon yükselmeleri görülebilir.

Özellikle, kontrolsüz yüksek tansiyonu bulunan kişilerin Psödoefedrin kullanmaması önerilir.
